Ingredients

  • 4-6 whole Maine Lobsters
  • water for steaming
  • butter melted optional
  • lemon wedges optional

Instructions

Preparing to Steam Maine Lobster

  1. Fill large stock pot with rack with tap water just below the rack (about 1″ of water) and bring pot to a boil. Place lobsters into stock pot. Immediately cover with lid and steam for 10 minutes or until meat temperature reaches at least 165 degrees Fahrenheight. As the lobster cooks it will turn a beautiful shade of red.

Serving Steamed Lobster

  1. After 10 minutes of steaming Maine lobster carefully remove lid from pot and remove each lobster with long handled tongs. Serve lobster with melted butter in butter warmers and lemon wedges. You will also want to have some lobster crackers and forks handy for accessing the lobster claws.

If you want to serve a side dish with your Maine lobster I recommend making crispy skin baked potatoes. And don’t forget to have a big bowl on the table for putting empty lobster shells into. Enjoy!
