Ingredients

  • 2 large egg whites (room temperature)
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2/3 cups sugar (sifted)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract or other flavoring (optional)
  • 1-2 drops food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Prepare two baking sheets covered with parchment paper.

  3. In a large bowl beat egg whites and salt until soft peaks form. If you are wanting to add a color now is the time.

  4. While beating slowly add sugar. Continue beating until peaks are stiff but not dry.

  5. Fold in flavoring (if using).

  6. Pipe small kisses with a candy decorating bag fitted with a cake decorating tip (we highly recommend using one of the tips found in the cake decorating icing piping tip set found here). When piping the kisses onto the baking sheet the kisses can be close together but not touching.

  7. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until dry but not brown.

  8. Remove from oven and cool for 2 minutes. Remove parchment paper from sheet and continue cooling.
  9. Gently remove meringue kisses (they should just pop off) and place in a container for serving or put in a baggie for storage.

  10. ENJOY!
