Ingredients

  • 4 apples cored and peeled
  • 2 cups water
  • 3/4 cup red-hot candies
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan bring water to a boil.

  2. Add sugar and red hot cinnamon candies and stir until dissolved.

  3. Reduce heat and carefully add apples.

  4. Cook apples for about 25 minutes or until tender. While apples are cooking, baste them by dipping a spoon in the syrup and pouring the candied syrup over the top of the apples. After awhile flip apples over and continue cooking. When apples have reached the desired tenderness remove from heat.

  5. Allow apples to cool while resting in the cinnamon candied syrup.

  6. Place cooled apples in a storage container. Pour candied syrup in with the apples and refrigerate. If you can’t resist you can eat them warm but I highly recommend keeping them in the candied syrup bath for at least 4 hours as the longer they sit in the red hot syrup bath the deeper red they will get and they will be more flavorful too. Enjoy!
