Homemade Syrup for Waffles or Pancakes

I found out by accident that homemade syrup is a fantastic alternative to store-bought syrup. It's even easy to make with just 3-5 ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon butter flavor

Instructions

  1. In a sauce pan add water and sugars.

  2. Over medium heat bring to a boil stirring until dissolved.

  3. Boil for 3-5 minutes, stirring often.

  4. Remove from heat, add flavoring.

  5. As the syrup cools it will thicken

  6. Store in a sealed glass jar.

  7. Enjoy!

  8. Note: You can store the syrup in the refrigerator but it is not necessary because of the high sugar content. We store ours in the cabinet and warm it up prior to serving.
