Make this all natural apple pomegranate juice by juicing two apples and fresh pomegranate seeds from a whole pomegranate.

This recipe for apple pomegranate not only produces a beautiful pink juice but is full of antioxidants. It does your body good. Apple pomegranate juice is a refreshing beverage and can be made year round.

Apples are easy to come by because they are readily available at the local grocery stores.  In October we like to head to the apple orchards and hand pick our own. As far as pomegranates, the actual fruit is only available for a limited time in the grocery stores. If you are unable to find pomegranates or the arils POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice can be substituted for fresh pomegranates.

Pomegranates

Pomegranates grow on a bush in Iran and India. They have been known to be cultivated in Arizona and California as well. If you live in the Northern Hemispheric region pomegranates are typically in season September to February and in the Southern Hemispheric region from March to May. Some call the pomegranate “The Jewel of Autumn”. Inside the pomegranate are tons of tiny plump kernels full of juice. These kernels are call arils and are full of antioxidants. Do your body a favor and start eating pomegranates today.

How to Open a Pomegranate

  1. Wear dark clothing or better yet wear an apron. These little arils can be pretty juicy.
  2. Gently score the skin of the pomegranate without cutting into the fruit.
  3. Gently pull the pomegranate open near the area scored.
  4. From the photo below see where the pomegranate has sections? Now score the skin on those sections.
  5. Gently pull the sections apart.
  6. Roll out the arils with your fingers into a bowl. It is best to hold the skin towards you and roll kernels out away from you. Complete this process for all sections until all arils are removed.

Some grocery stores sell the arils by themselves ready to eat.  As for me, I prefer to deseed the pomegranate myself. That way I know what I am getting. If you are unable to find pomegranates or the arils POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice can be substituted for fresh pomegranates.

The Juicer

I became interested in juicing after trying a sample of fresh cold-pressed juice at a local health food grocery store. I researched juicing and learned that the cold-pressed juices at the stores are not as nutritious as a fresh pressed juice that you can make at home. You see, right after the juice is pressed it is at its highest nutrient level. As the days go by it loses its nutrient potency.

I researched juicers thoroughly and came up with the one that I highly recommend.

HUROM JUICER

There really is a sense of gratification just knowing this juice is from fresh fruit and there are no added ingredients.
