Three Ingredients!

Ok, yeah, so….maybe I cheated a bit but I am only using three ingredients in this dish. Actually, this will probably be the simplest, best, and most flavorful dish in my recipe box.

Shhh! Don’t tell anyone, but for this recipe, I use two cans of this white clam sauce. Normally you would find me making my own clam sauce but I just can’t when this store bought version is phenomenal. Since there are a wide variety of clam sauces available I have found that this brand had the closest if not the same flavor as to what I have been served at one of my favorite Italian restaurants.

The next ingredient I use is about 1/2 teaspoon of crushed red pepper. By doing so, the peppers give the sauce a little kick. I guess this could be an optional ingredient therefore, if you don’t want to add the red pepper then you have yourself a two-ingredient dish.

Now, for the last and final ingredient, the pasta! I am not going to be too picky on what type of pasta is used but the traditional white clam sauce recipe is served with linguine pasta. There are some recipes out there that I have seen that even call for spaghetti. As for me, I have used linguine and an Aglio e Basilico pasta. So, you get to decide on the pasta you want for this dish.

Preparing Pasta with White Clam in a Garlic Herb Sauce

White Clam Sauce With Pasta Instructions

Don’t freak out but this dish can be ready in 15-20 minutes.

You will need a can opener as these cans do not have flip top lids. But before I open lids and use a can opener I have to give the lid of the can a quick rinse with tap water and swipe a towel around the lid groove. I do this to remove any crud from the top of the can before opening it. Does anyone else do this? Or, is it just the germ freak in me?! Anyway, after opening the cans place the clam sauce in a saucepan and add the red pepper. Place on stove over low heat.

In the meantime, prepare your pasta according to package instructions. When pasta is done drain in a colander in the sink. Add 2 tablespoons of butter and stir. Prepare serving size pasta in bowl and add clam sauce.

Enjoy!
