Prepare this Southern staple any time of the year. Easy recipe for making the best tasting savory collard greens.

Collard greens are a very large leafed plant. They are in the same vegetable family as cabbage. The leaves are deep green and waxy and when cooked in hot grease or liquids the leaves wilt and become tender the longer cooked.

The greens are a staple in the South. They are a nutritious and versatile vegetable that grows in hot or cold regions with ease. The flavor alone is usually bitter but when cooked properly you’ll get a savory dish.

When growing collard greens the plants can survive temperatures as low as 20°F. They also make an excellent container variety. Try growing your own greens this season and get your collard green seeds here.
