What’s In A DIY Body Spritzer?

This body spritzer recipe consists of distilled water, sweet almond oil, vegetable glycerin, coconut oil and if desired add an essential oil of your choice.

Distilled Water

Why distilled water? Because you don’t want any bacteria or other contaminants that could come from tap water growing in your body spray. Eww, that would be just gross!

Sweet Almond Oil

Sweet almond oil is excellent for treating dry skin. It is easily absorbed and promotes healthy-looking skin.

Almond oil is often found as a natural ingredient in many cosmetic and beauty products.

Since this oil is easily absorbed it is ideal for the entire body and an excellent product for this spray.

Vegetable Glycerin

Vegetable glycerin is another ingredient found in cosmetic products and maybe so because of its softening and moisturizing benefits.

Since water and vegetable glycerin mix together perfectly there is no need for added chemical emulsifiers.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is colorless, odorless and leaves a non-greasy feeling. It’s easily absorbed, light and nourishing and promotes healthy-looking skin.

Coconut oil is a great additive for this essential oil body spray. Since its odorless it will not interfere with the essential oil or change the scent of your spray.

Essential Oil

What’s so special about this recipe is any essential oil can be added when making this spray. Or, combine a few essential oils to make your favorite scent.

If I may make a suggestion: when choosing a fragrance oil for making this body spritzer you may want to make sure you have enough essential oil for making an all natural moisturizing lotion bar. And if you really want to make another beauty product why not try making this great lather, non-drying bar of soap to go along with your essential oil body spray.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup distilled water
  • 1/2 teaspoon vegetable glycerin
  • 1 teaspoon sweet almond oil
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 4 mL fragrance essential oil of choice

Supplies needed:

Directions:

Using a funnel pour distilled water, vegetable glycerin, sweet almond oil and coconut oil into spray bottle. You can find the spray bottle I use here.

Remove funnel and add 4 mL’s of your favorite essential fragrance oil using the glass pipette to the spray bottle. Need some essential oil ideas? Check out these scents here.

TIP: I use this 1ml glass pipette dropper for measuring the essential oils. Matter of fact I make different fragranced body spritzers and therefore I designate one dropper per bottle that way there is no cross blending of oils.

After measuring the amount of oil needed clean the pipette and tape it to the bottle for use next time.

Once you have combined all the ingredients you’ll notice how the oils are floating at the top of the spray bottle. This is perfectly normal. All you’ll need to do is just shake the bottle to combine the ingredients and then spray all over your body or wherever you prefer. Makes great gifts too!
