Super easy cheesy parmesan creamed spinach. This recipe is restaurant quality and very similar to Lawry’s steakhouse.
There are several things I really like about this recipe. For one thing it’s super easy and it reminds me of what Lawry’s steakhouse serves with their famous prime rib. This spinach is real creamy and has a great parmesan flavor. Oh yeah, and there’s no added salt and you can’t even tell!
What Dish Goes Well With Creamed Spinach?
My main purpose for making creamed spinach was to serve it like Lawry’s steakhouse with Garlic Herb Crusted Prime Rib. Serve this side dish with any steak dinner, Lamb Chops , chicken diners or even Pork Chops. What do you plan an serving this recipe with?
Cheesy Parmesan Creamed Spinach Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 Tablespoons salted butter
- 1 medium yellow onion grated
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 10 ounce fresh spinach
- 1 cup half and half milk
- 1 Tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
Instructions:
In a large pan melt butter over medium heat. Add grated yellow onion and sauté for about 2 minutes then add minced garlic and continue to sauté for an additional minute. Add fresh spinach to pan and cover with a lid. Allow spinach to wilt for about 3 minutes without stirring. Once the wilt has occurred either cut or stir spinach to break it up.
Place milk in a large glass and add flour. Use a whisk and whip half and half milk and flour until completely combined so the mixture is smooth and there are no lumps. Pour mixture over wilted spinach and cook over medium heat until the half and half milk has reduced by half. Sprinkle freshly grated parmesan cheese over creamed spinach. Cover with lid and reduce heat to simmer. Cook on low until cheese has melted. Serve in a 9″ oval baking dish and enjoy!
Please notice this recipe does not call for added salt. Using 1/2 cup of freshly grated parmesan cheese should be sufficient. If the flavor just isn’t enough for you feel free to serve a side dish of freshly grated parmesan cheese or add salt to taste.
