How to Make “PERFECT” Hard Boiled Eggs
I get a lot of friends that ask me, “How do you get your eggs to come out so perfect?”. My response, “I steam my eggs”.
Steam Eggs
For years I have used an egg cooker when making hard boiled eggs. To me it’s a no fail process.
I’m showing my age here but, every time I pull out my egg cooker it reminds me of the Jetsons cartoon flying car. You know, meet George Jetson, his boy Elroy!! To funny.
No, but seriously, add a small amount of water to the egg cooker, prepare eggs by pricking them with the provided pin. Place the eggs in egg tray, cover with lid, push the button and viola! There is no watching the clock because the egg cooker will automatically “shut off” or notify you when the eggs are done. How easy is that!
But yeah, I love my little egg cooker!
If you’re not going to use an egg cooker I do recommend another gadget that will assist in making peeling eggs easily and it’s called an “egg piercer”.
Egg Piercer
It’s true! This handy gadget, egg piercer, features a stainless steel needle to easily pierce your eggs before boiling them and makes peeling the egg after boiling easier than ever. Shells almost fall off by themselves!
But, if you have an egg cooker you wouldn’t need this gadget unless your egg cooker is old like mine.
Egg Bath
After the egg cooker notifies you the eggs are done carefully remove the eggs from the cooker and place the eggs in an ice bath until they are cooled.
Removing The Egg Shells
After the eggs are cooled remove them one by one. Tap egg on the countertop to initiate the first crack and gently roll back and forth until entire egg shell is crackled.
Now, gently remove the shell.
Perfectly peeled eggs every time!
Egg Salad Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 Hard boiled eggs
- 1/4 cup Hellman’s Mayonnaise
- 10 Green olives with pimentos cut in half
Directions:
Chop 4 hard boiled eggs into medium size pieces and place in a large mixing bowl.
Add mayonnaise and chopped olives and stir to combine.
Serve egg salad on a bed of lettuce, on a piece of bread or just serve in a bowl and eat with a fork. Enjoy!
