Summertime Favorite; Mint Water
Cool off during a hot summer day with an all-natural flavored refreshing mint water recipe. Only 2 ingredients to make this easy recipe; fresh mint and water!
Mint Plants
Mint is one of my favorite plants because of its fragrant foliage. This plant will get out of hand if not kept under control. I mean OUT OF HAND! It will completely take over your entire garden if your not careful.
Mint is so prolific that it can be difficult to get rid of the garden. But if you put the mint to use it is a very useful herb.
Add mint to almost every dish as a garnish or as an ingredient. I not only use mint for making this refreshing water but I also fresh cut mint for making my chocolate mint chocolate chip ice cream.
Grow Mint
Mint is such an easy her to grow. Matter-of-fact if you don’t currently have mint and know a friend who does just ask them for some fresh cut-lings, place the in a vase and within a week the mint will have rooted and you can plant in your own garden.
Or maybe you’d rather add some mint seeds to your garden and make some refreshing mint water.
How To Make Mint Water
Ingredients:
- fresh cut mint
- cold water (bottled or tap)
- sliced lemon or lime optional
Directions:
If you plan on making just a glass or two of mint water you’ll only need a few sprigs per glass.
But, if you are wanting to make a pitcher I like to use a handful of fresh cut mint, rinsed and placed into an infusion pitcher full of cold water.
Place pitcher in the refrigerator and allow the mint to infuse for at least 1 hour. For a more intense flavor infuse for an additional hour. Remove mint from water and discard.
TIP: Be careful not to infuse the mint too long as the water may start to turn green. There is nothing wrong with it changing color but who wants to drink green water?
Serve mint water over a glass full of ice, add an Eco Friendly Straw and garnish with lemon or lime slices. Enjoy!
