Looking for a crowd pleasing easy dip recipe? Every cheese dip lover will rave about this slow cooker sausage cheese dip.
This dip is perfect to serve for game day gatherings, potlucks, or just to fix as a snack while at home. It’s super easy. Just brown the sausage and throw everything into the slow cooker or crockpot and melt all ingredients together.
Can Cheese Dip Be Made With Sausage or Ground Beef?
Cheese dip can be made using ground beef (hamburger) or sausage or even a combination of both. But to make a simple cheese dip recipe it may be preferred to use the sausage roll only as it contains seasonings that one would not have to add to their ingredient list.
Slow Cooker Sausage Cheese Dip Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 pound hot pork sausage roll (I use Jimmy Dean’s)
- 2 pounds cheese block (I use original Velveeta cheese) (cut in 4 ounce sections)
- 8 ounce cream cheese (I use regular cream cheese)
- 10 ounce can diced tomatoes & green onions (I use the Rotel brand original or mild)
- 1 medium yellow onion diced
- Don’t forget the corn tortilla chips or raw veggies
Instructions
Cook pork sausage in a medium sauce pan until completely browned. Use a meat chopper like this to make the meat crumbly. If there is excess grease after cooking the pork sausage you may drain the grease. If there is just a little grease, like a teaspoon, that is okay to leave in. In a slow cooker place Rotel (diced tomatoes & green onions) including juices, cheese block cut into sections, cream cheese, diced onions, cooked pork sausage and cook on high for about 30-minutes. Stir and turn heat setting to medium and continue cooking until completely melted being careful to not burn the cheese. Serve with your favorite chips or raw veggies and enjoy!
