Prepare this baked steelhead trout recipe, without breaking your budget, using only four simple ingredients.
This baked fish recipe is super simple and ingredients include a filet of steelhead trout, unsalted butter, lemon pepper and fresh squeezed lemon.
What is Steelhead Trout?
You may otherwise know Steelhead Trout as Rainbow Trout. The FDA categorizes Steelhead Trout as a seafood substitute for Salmon. When compared side by side the Steelhead Trout resembles Salmon due to the same brilliant coral color. You can buy fresh steelhead trout from Sam’s Club if you have a membership there. At least the last time I checked in August 2024 they still had it in their fresh seafood section.
The Fish That Resembles Salmon
If seeing steelhead trout for the first time you may even think you are looking at a piece of salmon. I know I sure did. Steelhead trout is a sea trout similar to a freshwater rainbow trout but steelhead trout is anadromous meaning it can live in both saltwater and fresh waters. Actually, anadromous by definition meaning is steelhead trout migrate from salt waters to freshwater to spawn.

HI
This is my first time cooking any kind of trout and I am glad yours is very simple, easy. Having to learn better cooking habits for husband’s diet and mine too to help with blood pressure and losing weight. Can’t wait to taste final product. Hopefully I can get more menus toward lighter eating. Thanks, Carry
