Making a lemon butter and garlic shrimp bake has never been easier. Just melt butter, add garlic and lemon. Pour over shrimp and bake!
Although this recipe was made using four of the 2/4 uncooked shrimp count, any size shrimp would work with this marinade.
Shrimp Counts
Since there are multiple counts of shrimp hopefully the below information will guide you in which shrimp would work best for you. All indications are shrimp bodies with heads removed.
- 2/4 means you get 2-4 shrimp per pound shell-on deveined (used in this recipe). These are sometimes hard to find but I got these at my local grocery store in the frozen seafood section. 1-2 pieces of this 2/4 would be one serving. I believe this one is the extra colossal.
- 4/6 Jumbo Shrimp Raw shell-on deveined.
- 8/12 Colossal Shrimp. Actually, from my studies I have seen that any shrimp under 15/xx is considered Colossal. 3-4 shrimp per 3 oz serving.
- 16/20 Extra Jumbo. Great for making shrimp cocktail. 4-5 shrimp per 3 oz serving.
- 21/25 Jumbo. 5-6 shrimp per 3 oz serving.
- 26/30 Extra Large. Usually 6-7 shrimp per 3 oz serving.
- 31/40 Large and are good for making shrimp scampi on the Barbie. 8-9 shrimp per 3 oz serving.
- 41/50 Medium. 10-12 shrimp per 3 oz serving.
- 51/60 Small. 12-15 shrimp per 3 oz serving.
- 61/70 Tiny. Good for salads. 15-17 shrimp per 3 oz serving.
Garlic Shrimp Bake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 stick salted butter
- 4 large cloves garlic minced
- 1 lemon
- 4 2/4 uncooked colossal shrimp (if not using colossal shrimp figure 3 ounces of shrimp per person)
- Fresh parsley (optional)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
More than likely you’ve bought the frozen shrimp. If so, remove from freezer and thaw at room temperature.
Look at that shrimp! It’s huge! And in the end, it was very delicious. I made 2 shrimp per person. Amazingly so, I could have gotten away just using 1 per person.
Rinse shrimp and place in a baking pan. For the colossal shrimp I left the shells on.
Melt butter in a small sauce pan over medium heat. Add minced onion to melted butter and cook for about 1 minute or just until the garlic aroma is present.
Add lemon juice from half of the lemon to butter garlic mixture and stir to combine.
Place shrimp in an oven safe pan an pour melted butter and garlic over shrimp. Rearrange shrimp so all shrimps are covered with lemon garlic butter mixture and allow to rest for about 5 minutes.
Bake shrimp in preheated oven until shrimps are cooked through (about 15 – 25 minutes for the colossal shrimp). Baked shrimp will appear firm, pink and opaque when ready.
Plan accordingly and why not make an appetizer of homemade hush puppies.
Serve baked shrimp with wild rice, steamed broccoli and fresh lemon slices.
Note: The extra lemon garlic butter can be used for dipping if desired. Just place the mixture in individual serving butter warmers.
