What’s For Dinner? Skillet Fried Pork Chops!

Here you will learn to make a delicious skillet fried pork chop dinner using an electric skillet. Only four ingredients: pork chops, lard, salt and pepper.

You’ll find different cuts of pork chops to choose from at your local grocery store like the butterfly cut, breakfast chops thin cut, pork shoulder steak, bone-in pork center rib chop and boneless pork cuts.

For this recipe I prefer using the pork center rib chop bone-in family pack. I like having this cut because it’s not too thick nor too thin. It has just the right thickness and I like the bone-in because I feel the bone adds more flavor. The bone also has good flavor for nibbling on too! Wink wink.

Note: Please do not give any of these bones to your dogs. These bones are very dangerous for animals. The bone could get lodged in their throat and cause some serious injury or even death.

For this recipe I use an electric skillet. I’m sure this could be made on the stove top the same way but for years I have used a skillet. Plus, by doing so less grease splatter to clean up.

Fond

My favorite part of making pork chops is getting the dark brown food bits. The culinary world calls that fond!

The fond makes for a wonderful brown gravy. So, if you are planning on making gravy with the pork chops do not get rid of the fond.

Fantastic recipe that I followed to the T. My chops turned out a beautiful rich brown color and were moist and delicious! I haven’t cooked chops in 100 years and was a little intimidated at first because it had been so long…but your recipe was simple and the chops turned out great! Thank you! PS I’m going to subscribe to your blog and see what all you have going on in the kitchen!

Great question Melodie! If you don’t use lard you can use any kitchen oil (vegetable, olive, canola, etc). Probably use about 4 Tablespoons or until there is s thin coating on the bottom of your pan. Hope this helps.
